This tent, like most, uses fiberglass poles connected with "shock cord" (also known as elastic cord). Unfortunately, upon arrival, we opened the package and found that one of the shock cords was severed, rendering one pole set unusable.
While Electronica Direct would provide a replacement after shipping this one back to them, that would not work for our time frame and upcoming vacation. So we fixed it ourselves by buying shock cord and installing new shock cord inside the poles. FYI - it is hard to find shock cord in mid-summer - all sporting goods stores were sold out, as were all but one fabric store. If you need shock cord, the fabric stores sell 1/8" elastic cord, which is the same thing, for about .49/yard, and seem more likely to have it in stock than camping stores.
I recommend that Eureka use stronger shock cord and/or protect the ends of the poles during shipping so that the cord would not arrive in a severed condition. I do not blame Electronica Direct - this quality issue is Eureka's problem and their China-based manufacturer that ships the tents fully packaged to US distributors.
I wanted to change the review to 3-stars but Amazon won't let me change my initial selection. The tent will hopefully perform fine in the field - but we are taking extra shock cord and duct tape just in case. I selected this tent, in part, due to the nearly full coverage tent fly, unlike many other tents that cut corners with flys that come down to about 3 feet off the ground and provide no protection for the lower section of the tent. The size of the tent can easily accommodate 2 adults, and gear, in each of the 2 "rooms". You could fit six depending how packed you want to be and how much gear you might have to leave outside. The 12-volt sockets were not a factor in our purchase decision; however, they are standard 12-volt "cigarette lighter" style connectors so you can use most any 12 volt source and many types of 12-volt accessories available in car part stores or marine/RV supply stores, if you wish.
Update: The tent works reasonably well - during one night we had very high winds (probably gusting over 45 mph). We did need to stake out guy lines to the attachment points on the fly. The tent did function, did not tear or come down - but did do a fair amount of shaking/warping in the high winds. I went out and compared the wind effect on this tent to others in the campground. There were several, usually the big Coleman tents, that were really flapping around badly. Small 2 or 3 person tents had less wind profile and generally did better (one was not staked down and was lifted up and pinned into a tree!). An REI 4-person 2-room tent with the full vestibules (expensive tent by the way) was next to us and was by far the sturdiest in this wind event.
Another night we had 3 Rocky Mountain thunderstorms in a row. The 2nd one nailed us with extremely heavy rain and hail. However, the tent withstood this fine (good to know!) However, the rain event was so intense and the wind blowing it sideways that some of it did force its way through the fully zipped door on one side of the tent. It was not a lot of rain that came in but we had a very small puddle - I expect that all tents in this rain event had rain forced through the zippers. The only exception was the one tent that had a FULL coverage rain fly, even down over the door area. And I have to re-emphasize this was an extraordinary rain event - not a normal rain storm.
We liked having the 2-room capability of the tent as it split up the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 adult children - teens) really nicely.

I really like this tent. The rain fly does not touch the tent so you can move around freely when it is rainig outside. I seamed sealed my tent and have had no issues of any water getting in. I wish that it had a 110 plug in but the 12v fan and air pump work great. It's nice and tall so standing up in it is no problem. Me and my 2 white boxers fit great in this tent.

Eureka tents are well built, and this one is no exception. The fiberglass poles are alot thicker than from a less expensive tent. This makes the tent sturdy even in heavy wind or gusts. You'll need a battery pack, a cord and a light that works in the tent and is sold by Eureka. The whole set up works well. We have the light with a fan. I love the little blue lights at every plug in point. This is great for when you are camping in very dark locations. Your eyes can get used to the dark a little better. I would definitely recommend this tent to others.

By far one of the best investments I have ever made. Tent sets up easily and drops quickly. I have used it on four seperate camping occasions during spring, summer and fall and will be trying it out this coming winter. The wiring is not an issue and I suggest that you spring for the e-power pak. Great invention for us "old timers". Thanks

This is a nice tent. The power pack is a great option. I have 3 young daughters, and I can turn on an overhead lamp from a switch next to my sleeping bag. The blue glowing outlets are nice nite lights. This is labeled as a eight person tent, but five is more like it.
