The Leek series includes some of our most popular knives. And no wonder. Kershaw's Leeks offer Ken Onion's distinctive design as well as the SpeedSafe ambidextrous assisted opening system. With SpeedSafe, the user can smoothly and easily deploy the blade with one hand, either left or right. Leeks come in a variety of handle styles, some with technologically advanced coatings for enhanced performance. For example, the bead-blasted stainless steel handle offers strength and beauty. A handle with black Tungsten DLC coating produces a Leek with a non-reflective surface. For lightweight and a one-of-a-kind look, choose our "smoked" double-anodized aluminum finish in two colors. Or choose our new Pink Leek with it's fashionable pink anodized aluminum handle, the Rainbow Leek with its titanium oxide coating that produces a highly scratch resistant, brilliant, rainbow finish. Also new in 2007 is our Random Leek with a modified Tanto blade for cutting power and chromium nitride coating for hardness and corrosion resistance. For ease of carrying, all Leeks include a reversible/removable pocket clip.

 "An awesome little blade!" 2010-04-07

By S. Kirkpatrick (Barstow,CA.)

I've had this knife for about a month and a half now. I wanted to write a review after I spent a little time with it. This is my first review, so forgive me if I'm not as percice as the other reviews. I am familiar with other high quality fixed blades and folders. I've owned Spyderco's and a few Benchmade's. This is my first Kershaw.

I wanted a thin, short folder to take with me to work. This knife definetly fits the bill. I keep it in the watch pocket of my jeans and I forget it's there untill I need it. The slim design is exactly what I was looking for, and it feels solid in your hand. I have to say, right out of the box it's extremely sharp! When it does loose it's edge, it's very easy to sharpen. As stated in other reviews, the Speed Safe opening is a bit of a "gimmic", but it works great. The only problem I have with this knife is that the blade tip is a bit too delicate. Sometimes it feels as though I have an giant X-acto in my hand. Don't expect to do any heavy duty work with this one. It's just for light to medium jobs. Other than that, I love it!

 "Disappointing" 2010-04-02

By David B. Wilson (Ohio)

I own a Kershaw 1840st shallot and love it. I bought this one thinking it was just a smaller version of the shallot. It is smaller, but also cheaper. Doesn't have near the feel of quality. Would not recommend this Onion.

 "Awesome little knife" 2010-03-27

By D. Paluszek (Tallahassee, FL United States)

Can't say anything bad about this - knife is very slim, very sharp, and I love the speed safe. I'm not sure why others said this knife is "too" sharp, isn't that the purpose of a knife? :)

"Dangerous design, too easy for fingers to slide onto blade." 2010-03-22

By Aaron Contorer (San Diego, USA)

A good knife should be sharp, of course. But it should also be designed so that it's reasonably challenging to cut yourself when closing it. My friend was badly cut by his. You can see that other reviewers here an Amazon were too. Go with Spyderco instead.

 "Great Knife" 2010-03-19

By Lance (California)

Been carrying this type of knife for quite some time. First knife the torsion bar broke, so Kershaw sent me a replacement. Knife was easy to fix if you have the right torx screwdriver. But I eventually lost it so I had to order this one. Also, I remove the safety catch. I have never had the knife open in my pocket. However, I have had it open when I dropped it. Easy to sharpen, holds an edge. Not too large, not too small, and slim. Nice feature of either opening with thumb or index finger. Excellent knife.
