 "Great tent!!!!" 2010-04-05

By Donald M. Campbell Jr. (VA)

I've had this tent for about 6 months and it's great. It has survived many trips on the Appalachian trail. The rain fly gives you privacy and plenty of extra storage space. Sets up in a few minutes and is lightweight. It's been through high winds, pouring rain, rough terrain and has never given me a problem. It says it's a two person tent but that's only if you really like the other person. Get this tent.

 "Great starter tent" 2010-04-04

By mm

I bought a few of these for our Boy Scout Troop. Aside from being a little heavy, it's a very good basic dome tent, and a fantastic value for the money - I can easily see these becoming our standard tent. Basic information: easy two pole set up, nice amount of floor space, good ventilation, construction appears to look good. The two zippers on the door (one along the bottom of the door and one along the top) were a little awkward compared to a single "wrap-around" zipper; however, the only real ding on it is the weight - I'd really like an "XTA" model with aluminum poles. Beyond this, there are only a couple of minor improvements to take it to the next level - 1. hubbed pole system for even easier set up, 2. wrap around door zippers.

"Love this tent, even with its flaws" 2010-03-12

By Douglas D. Ketcham

Pros- I did a lot of research on this and other tents before i went with the apex 2xt, the duel vestible really caught my eye and was the reason i finally picked this tent. it allows for twice the amount of storage space for gear while still keeping it all out of the rain which is great. the tent is pretty cramped with 2 people in it, but when you put both peoples packs outside of the tent under the duel vestible it creates a lot more room, also this tent is super easy to put up, takes no time atall.

Cons- I never thought i would give any negative review on this tent but i would be lieing if i didnt. again i love this tent but the first time i took it out camping it rained for about 30 hrs straight and along both the seams of the zippers on the duel vestible drops of water seeped through the entire time it was raining. which dripped directly onto the floor of my tent through the mesh top, under the vestible. i woke up in the morning and was somewhat wet. I have since waterproofed the seams along the zipper on the vestible and now it works great. i sealed it with some kiwi "camp dry" i believe and it works great now, kindof annoying that i had to waterproof the rain fly though, as it is obviously already supposed to repell water. just fyi though if you buy this tent and take it out for the first time, bring a can of camp dry and wait to see what happens when it rains. i would even suggest waterproofing the seals before you go on your first trip with it.

bottom line- even if i knew the vestible leaked without me waterproofing it, i STILL would have gotten this tent and am very happy with it. i highly recommend this tent, i also recommend buying a footprint for it or folding up a tarp to put under it.

 "TOUGH TENT" 2010-02-13

By KJ (VA BEACH)

I took this tent winter hiking/camping in Northern PA. This not only efficiently housed 2 grown men for 4 nights, but also had the protection for the gear. The vestibules are worth their weight in gold when it's snowing and windy. With 8" overnight snowfall this tent held up very well to the snow weight. I would defineitly invest in a gear loft and the footprint. I'm very impressed with the overall design and ease of set up. This is a very tough, 2 man tent I'm glad I purchased it. It currently resides in my "Bug Out Bag". A great asset to any gearfreak's arsenal!

 "good small tent" 2010-02-08

By Y. Wang (NY, USA)

The quality of this tent is quite good. We used it five nights at YellowStone Park and it held up quite well. There was a rain one night and it didn't leak. We bought another tent from Walmart and we found this tent has a better quality than Walmart's brand.

One thing I don't like is that there is no floor under the vestibules, so you have to crawl out to reach the zippers. And you don't want to put your hands on the ground! How did I do that? I put my shoes under the vestibule and put my hands in my shoes and "walk" them to the zipper!

And remember it is a backpacking tent, so you can't quite stretch out in it. You can either crawl or sit. It is quite heavy for backpacking, but I don't plan to use it that way.
