 "Very Dissapointed in Quality" 2010-03-05

By GB (NC)

I purchased this mattress for a weekend camping trip for CubScouts. Used it 2 nights inside tent, made sure it wasn't on any rocks or sticks. Worked OK. Then rolled it up and stored in for 6 months. Then used it for only the second time for a CubScout trip and it would not hold air longer than 3 hours. Haven't had time to search for the hole or try to patch. Would rather pay more for a quality mattress, if one exists.

I won't buy another Coleman mattress. 2 nights sleeping on the cold ground gives you time to think about it.

"Get something better - not worth replacing it every year" 2010-02-27

By Jeff (Springfield, VA United States)

I've been dealing with this mattress for a couple years, and after tonight, I feel like I owe it to someone to share my experience with this dreadful thing. My sister owned this mattress for less than a year, using it indoors once every couple of months for when company stayed over. After a while, it started losing more and more air, to the point where you'd wake up on hard floor in the middle of the night. She got fed up with it and was preparing to throw it away, but I saved it from the trash, thinking that a patch would solve the problem and make it usable again.

Now here I am, a couple years later, with a mattress that looks like it came out of Dr. Frankenstein's lab. I've used it maybe four times over the past two years (all inside), and just finished patching the seventh hole. Yes, SEVENTH. The top material is hardly what I would call durable, and the dimples that you can see in the picture are prone to small holes/tears that develop all by themselves (and I'm only 125 lbs, so that tells you how much stress it can handle). And because these stress points are along a crease, patching is an absolute nightmare. When I inflated the mattress earlier this evening (using the Coleman pump, which is loud enough to wake an entire apartment building), it had already lost a considerable amount of air after just two hours. I re-inflated the mattress, then started pushing down in different areas with my head just above the mattress, listening for the tell-tale hiss where it was leaking. It certainly didn't take long - after pushing down in one area, there was a loud "WHOOSH" sound, and one of the circular depressions on the top ripped completely free of the cover, leaving a hole the size of my fist. I managed to reseal it using an ungodly amount of duct tape, but as soon as my company leaves tomorrow (the same sister who wanted to throw the mattress away, as fate would have it), Frankenmattress is going straight to the dumpster. Buy this thing if you dare, but really, you shouldn't be encouraging this kind of crap in the marketplace.

"leak the first time use" 2010-02-17

By T. Kawahigashi (Near Halo3, WA)

So I purchased this somewhere else and I needed it due to a temp stay. So indoor use, cleared space and everything, Nothing to puncture with. I go to sleep, and I wake up about 5 hrs later on the floor. first time use, there is a leak on the sheet clip (seriously this is a design flaw) and well... its in a weird place so i can't patch it (since that voids warranty).

I called their customer service, and they told me their hours, open weekdays from 9-4:45 or something along that line. it's 2:45 when i called. they hung up on me.

I was just astounded, no hold, just straight up, hung up.

I will NEVER purchase coleman product again related with air mattresses and other various items, I bought their pump and sleeping bag but nothing special. honestly, something that doesn't even survive one night in doors in an empty room... is unbelievable.

I don't get why it leaked either. i slept in the middle of the bed. which isn't very comfy, the lumps or the pattern of the mattress kinda creates weird circulation and laying there was slightly uncomfortable.

i won't recommend this to anyone. not worth 30 dollars.

"2 in a row, each didn't last one full night" 2010-01-19

By E. Ban

Sadly, the title says it all. I love Coleman air mattresses- I've slept on them every night for months. I previously bought the one from Costco and had great success. But I have now bought 2 of these lovely brown Quickbeds, two days in a row, and 2 nights in a row now I have ended up on the floor. Costco must sell a higher end one because this Quickbed just isn't cutting it. Boo!
