 "Great Outdoor Screen Tent" 2009-11-05
By Peggy A. Johnson (REPUBLIC, MI, US)
This is a great tent. Nice size, color, and black screen which makes it really a lot nicer to look out rather than the white screens. Plenty roomy as well and works great against the bugs. Also is very easy to assemble, store, and put together.

"Good screenhouse for dirt surfaces only" 2009-07-05
By Linda M. Hendrickson (Woodbridge, VA)
I bought this screenhouse so my kids could play outside in a sandbox or with a water table without having to bother with bug spray or lots of sunscreen. From the photo I thought it would be okay for a deck; it needs to be in the dirt. It has a lot of room and was pretty easy to put up. I wish it had feet stabilizers so it could be placed in a patio or deck setting. Good quality though.

I am very pleased with this screen house. The set up is very easy and took two people 10 minutes to put it up. Now we can sit outside and eat out without any bugs flying around us. Highly recommended. Also very roomy.

This is a nice screen room but there is no provision for guy lines. Ours blew down in a brisk breeze and broke three of the poles. We are currently waiting to see if Eureka will replace them.

 "Not worth it" 2009-08-21
By S. Keaton (Los Angeles)
I had thought this beach tent cover would be the perfect solution to the cabana I bought that was open on one side. Theoretically I could put the cover over the tent and have perfect privacy quickly and easily. Unfortunately the only time it is easy to put the cover on and keep it on is when there is absolutely no breeze. Since the beach is always windy, the cover has not only been useless, but also problematic. It blows away easily and even the stakes will not hold it down. In addition, if it doesn't blow away, it gets blown sideways into the cabana and anyone inside the cabana feels as if they're drowning in blue nylon. Finally, if it is a calmer day and the cover does not blow away, it raises the temperature in the tent 10 degrees easily. I have yet to figure out a way to effectively use the cover. It has definitely been more hassle than help.

 "Fabulous Find" 2009-06-28
By Elizabeth F. (Missouri, USA)
What a great little invention. I carry it as a backpack, it's lightweight and unobtrusive, while walking with the dogs in the pastures. If I find a good spot for a nap I pop open the tent and climb in for a bug-free rest. When I'm done it simply folds back up and goes into it's bag. My friends laugh at me, but who cares--I'm 65 years old and enjoy every minute of the day. My grandkids think I'm pretty smart.

"Works great and definitely covers the tent!! :)" 2008-06-11
By Diane in Boise (Boise, ID)
Just purchased the self-expandable screen tent (which works GREAT!) but wanted something more like a regular tent - because the screen tent only has mesh covering on the top portion of every side. So, purchased the self-expanded screen tent waterproof cover, also from Genji Sports, via Amazon.

This cover works great - goes right over the top of the tent and attaches with really fast and easy input plastic stakes at the bottom on all sides. The cover has a little mesh window that you can pull up the material on if you want to see some outside - but if you don't just drop down the material that velcro attaches and you have complete coverage! Also has zippers that you can open obviously from the inside as well as the outside just as a tent would.

Happy beaching or camping to you!!! :) Diane

By A. Zarr (Canfield, Ohio)
We just bought this screen house to replace a similar one which broke. We used it on our last camping trip. It was easy to put up, roomy. The only draw back was the flap by the doors made it harder to enter. We kept tripping on it. This was the same size as our old one, but for some reason, it seemed larger. We loved it. We would recommend this screen house.

 "Barely adquate" 2009-04-14
By J. Landry
The unit is flimsy. the stitching and fabric are of inferior material and not properly UV protected. The frame is weak, to the point of being almost fragile. This is not a product that will stand up to anything stronger than a light breeze and certainly not for use in rainy weather. In short it falls into the same catagory as lighters, razors etc., it's Disposable.

Called customer service and talked to a person who was the very rude . She acted like she was the customer. Ended up with a worthless piece of junk that is nothing like the original. Screen house blew over the first day on the beach in a gust of wind. Four of the poles were bent, but could be straightened. We used it the rest of the week with out a problem. Contacted Amazon about my problem and I was taken care of quickly and in a very fair way. Not only was I taken care of fairly it was done with great haste and no arguments. I will buy from Amazon and have found in a lot of cases it is cheaper than and easier than bidding on eBay.

By suzyp
Our use is for camping. We have a screen house from a National Retailer, and quit using it after about 4 times because it was such a pain to assemble. Two couples we know own this one, and we end up at their campsite whenever we go camping together. We finally bought our own. We got it up in 20 minutes the first time. Getting the pins in the ends of the stakes is a bit tough but we did it. We might shave a bit off the ends of a couple poles if it doesn't stretch after a couple uses.

By JFC (Tulsa)
My husband & I are extremely pleased with this screen room. It is assembled & disassembled easily and quickly, provides good shade and good protection against flying pests. We use it while camping out in an RV at the lake over the picnic table in our pad. We string up chili pepper lights around it, even cook on a portable gas grill inside of it and also put in a couple of reclining lawn chairs. Our dogs lounge in there with us. Great buy! People walk by and inquire about where to buy it and say they too must get one!

"None of them are perfect but this is as close as you can get..." 2009-03-04
By CyberCrone (Dead Cat, AZ USA)
I will be ordering my third one of these this year. I live in an area where we get winds up to 40, even 50 mph sometimes. I put this up in the Spring and enjoy it as long as it survives. It will get demolished by wind sometime during the late summer or fall. In the meantime I will have enjoyed it for several months--I leave it up all summer. I have tried several different brands and this is the best designed for the beating they get here at 7000 feet. Some of the other brands have not lasted a month.

The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the vent in the top is crappy. Designed to drench you when it rains. Of course they didn't anticipate that anyone would want to sit out there in the rain, but I do, and so do both my cats. I hang shower curtains over the sides for wet weather but there's nothing you can do about the vent.

 "Eureka N!ergy Screen House" 2009-03-23
By CO Camper (Denver, Colorado)
We have not yet utilized the screen house for camping purposes (the main reason for purchasing it), but we did a dry run yesterday and I note the following observations. A follow-up review, along with detailed photos, will be posted upon our return from an early June camping trip.

SET-UP:

As with all Eureka products I've owned, assembly is easy and fast. From start to finish, my partner and I had the screen house erected in less than 10 minutes. Since we recently ordered the Copper Canyon 1512, we didn't even need to look at the directions. It assembles in almost exactly the same fashion.

SPACE:

The screen house is just right when it comes to interior space. It's just wide and long enough to cover a standard picnic table - with several feet of walking space all the way around - which will be our primary use for the product. The ceiling is high and the side walls are nice and tight with little flexing in breezy conditions.

FEATURES:

As advertised, the screen house contains a main control panel with 4 toggle switches for each of the built-in 12v outlets. 3 of the upper 4 corners and the center of the ceiling contain such an outlet. The main "switchboard" itself plugs into the Eureka PowerPak, which we purchased several weeks ago in preparation for receiving this screen house. All of the wires running to each of the outlets are encased in a sewn-in sleeve that wraps the entire inside of the house where the walls meet the ceiling - not dissimilar to how the poles are fed through sleeves - so replacement should not be a difficult task. Handy loops are sewn in around this same boundary, which would allow you to install a string of 12v party lights very easily. Unfortunately, I didn't count the loops, but I would guess there are 6-8 per wall. You could, I suppose, hang a few very lightweight items from said loops. The center of the ceiling also contains a loop for hanging a lantern, ceiling fan or other device.

QUALITY:

As usual, I am very impressed with the quality of the screen tent, especially considering it's price tag of under $140. The roof is very thick and durable nylon and all of the stitching is spot on and flawless. The zippers are heavy duty and very smoothly glide open and closed. The screen house also comes with very heavy duty cinch sacks for the house itself, with two other heavy duty sacks for the poles and for the stakes (which I will be replacing with heavy duty ones - no big deal). I was surprised to note that the sacks for the house/poles/stakes were actually much more heavy duty than ones I got with my 1512.

OVERALL:

The Eureka N!ergy Screen House is exactly as it was described and I was more impressed than I thought I would be with the quality of materials and incorporation of the "electrical system". Everything is neat and tidy and it fits back into it's stuff sack with more than enough room to spare. We will be ordering two more for summer entertaining when the bugs get bad!

If you're looking for the ultimate screen house with one of the best price points around, no need to look further!

** UPDATE ** UPDATE ** UPDATE ** AS OF JUNE 12, 2009

We've just returned from a 5-day camping trip and this screen house is simply the best. Since I've already detailed everything above, there's no reason to go any further. It did what it needed to do and then some. What a fantastic product. Photos have been posted.

"It didn't even last for two months!" 2009-08-28
By Lynne (Ohio)
I ordered this screen arbor June 18, 2009 to go around a kiddie pool for my child to protect against bugs and to provide shade.

It was easy to assemble and looked nice.

Not even two months later three of the ropes that tied down the tent to stakes needed replaced as they had snapped, one of the top panels has fallen apart (I am assuming the "sun rot" I have been reading about in other reviews), and the corners where the metal pieces you tie the tie downs to are attached are coming apart from the tent.

A poor quality waste of money!

 "just cheap screen house" 2009-07-23
By J. KOH (ny, usa)
pro : cheap, easy assembly, looks like waterproof

cons : cheap material, some pole doesn't fit, big mesh

Before this screen house, I got 14 by 12 screen house at Sams club by swissgear which was very good, well made and good price. I felt it was to big for us and returned it. The second one was by greatland at nearby target store. The quality was much poor than the swissgear's. Finally,

I looked at the reviewes here and bought this one. I was happy about the cheap price. The pole looks likes steel which is easily get rust and some of them I cannot plug it in. I tried to bent them and manage to fit in. The screen mesh is lage compared to ordinary mesh of any tent. The roof material is same thing as a tarp and look like water proof which is good thing. The carring bag is big and nice. In my point of view, this is just a cheap screen house not better worthy than the money. You cannot expect quality of coleman or Eureka for sure.

 "D. Hauck, Michigan" 2009-07-10

What I did not like: The directions said that I needed to water proof the seams else they would leak because of the stitching: why did not the manufactor do this? On initial setup: One of sections of poles had a small dent that did not allow me to in sert the other pole in it; one of the sections of poles had been scraped and had rust on it and 1 1/2 inches of screening had come loose from the center strip. I can live with and or fix these items but I'm not so pleased.

What I did like: I received it in a timely fashison it was easy to put up by myself. I liked the storage case that came with it. It meets my basic needs.

 "Good for the price!" 2009-07-06
By Michael V. Halsey (New Hampshire)
The tent went up extremely easy; put it up alone and had no problems. Took around 45 mins. to assemble. Plenty of anchor points keep it tightly in place during windy days. Has a zippered opening on front and back so you can enter either way. The materials are a little cheap and I expect it to only last for 1 or 2 years. Makes a nice shelter for my patio table to keep the mosquitos and black flys out. Works well for an easy quick fix for the summmer!

A quick update! It's now 8/27 and my tent is basically useless. The whole front roof of the tent sun rotted at the seams and fallen in. If you're going get this tent don't leave it in the sun for the season it will not last. And this has been an extremely rainy year here in NH. It's cheap in price and cheap in quality. If I could I would change my rating to 2 stars instead of the initial 4!

 "Very nice screen house" 2009-07-27
By abezon (Bellingham, WA USA)
Overall, this is a very nice screen house. The bug mesh is tight & regular. The polyester top/bottom is the same material as for many Eureka tents, though the polyurethane coating is not as thick, so the water resistance is not comparable to a tent. A tarp over the top will fix this problem easily. The seams & corners are reinforced, and there are no excessive stress points built into the design.

The screen house was exceptionally easy to set up -- it took us 5 minutes to set up, including opening the box. The clips are easy to attach. The 6-pole hex design has straighter sides & is sturdier in wind than the square or rectangular designs we tried.

My only complaints are (1) the doors are less than 5' high, so I have to duck to get through them, and (2) the stakes that come with the tent are large, thick, plastic things that are hard to pound into the ground, hard to hook to the tent rings, & harder to get out again. I switched to some plain metal J-shape stakes to fix problem 2.

"Screen tent functional but life is short..." 2009-07-20
By optyman (Michigan)
Short and sweet. Owned this for several years. Never left up for more than a week at a time. Stored in bags after drying out every time.

Pros:

- Easy one or two person setup (even easier with more than two)

- Free standing (but recommend securing with stakes).

- No see-um screen with no chance of bugs entering.

- Not overly too large (fits over a large sized picnic table with some room to spare).

- Green colored (blends in with camp site)

Cons:

- Interior items can get wet if the wind blows horizontally. Light rains do not seem to impact interior.

- No top vent (gets real stuffy on the inside if you don't use a fan to circulate the air)

- Zipper teeth are small and plastic and eventually both zippers went out on this item (two separate doors). Temporarily used sewn on velcro to partially fix, until the screen ripped from age. Be carefult with the zippers. All the brands I ran across do not put better quality or larger zippers on the doors...why not???

The Eureka screen tent lasted for more than a couple of years, but now we are trying a Coleman brand. I'll let you know on that one!

"Overall good product, but unstable in the wind" 2007-09-01
By J. Roddahl
We used this product for three weeks lately and were happy with it. It was easy to assemble, covered a large picnic table with plenty of room to move around, and kept the mosquitos and 'no-see-ums' out. Overall quality was good. Our only complaint was that when the afternoon thunderstorms came through, a good gust of wind tended to twist the tent on its pole skeleton and partially collapse it. A little stabilizing with some clothesline solved that, so no big deal. We'd recommend this one.
