Sierra Designs Verde 20-Degree Sleeping Bag Overview

Tested to the Highest Standards - Sierra Designs has always tested sleeping bags to make sure that our customers are warm and comfortable on their adventures. Now we’ve adopted the European Norm (EN) 13537 test process which provides a standardized comparison method for all sleeping bag brands so that it is easier for you to choose the right sleeping bag for your needs. The two temperature ratings listed are “Comfort” and “Lower Limit.” Comfort is defined as the temperature that a standard woman (60 kg / 132 lbs) will be comfortable at versus “Lower Limit” is the temperature that a standard man (80 kg / 176 lbs) will be comfortable at. EN 13537 confirms: Women sleep colder than men using the same sleeping bag in the same outside temperature. The best recommendation for the women is the Comfort Limit. The best recommendation for men is the Lower Limit.

You have to figure out how to use this product yourself. There are no instructions and the photo is misleading. The photo is what it would look like from the inside of the tent. And, there is no loop as the picture shows. There are two pieces: a) a ring and b) a base for the ring that has a strap attached for the rope guides. Here's how to put them on your tent:



1) Place the ring piece inside the tent at the spot you want it.



2) place the oval-with-strap piece on the OUTSIDE of the tent and push the oval piece through the tent fabric into ring piece on the inside. The ring piece locks it in place.



It's hard to understand with words, you just have to fiddle with it until you get it. It is very clever. Enjoy.

Yup, these clips are worth the money. When I bought my new tent, I didn't even notice it didn't have any stake loops at the bottom, mid-points of each wall. As such, the slightest breeze would push the wall(s) in about 12"... annoying. These clips (once you figure out how they attach,ha) solve the problem. A good idea at a reasonable price.

Used these at St. Pete Beach to hold down our Kelty Sunshade in the sand. Filled with wet sand, and buried just deep enough to cover the bag/stake. At times we had strong enough wind to "warp" the sunshade a bit, but the sand stakes never came close to letting go. Highly recommend to anyone needing to anchor something in sand/loose soil.

We used these on a camping trip at Assateague Island last year. Lucky we had them, because there was a storm that weekend. There were flash floods the day we left. We used these bags to hold down a picnic shelter tent. They worked great and were easy to use. The only issue we had was in digging them out. One of us (surely not me!) hit one of the bags with the shovel and tore the bag. I was able to stitch it up when we got home. I think it will be fine for our next trip.
