This is a great knife, everyone should have one. I use this almost everyday. The scissors is especially useful.

 "Very Pleased" 2010-03-18

By Longtail (Seattle, WA United States)

Victorinox is legendary knife maker and a brand name you can trust for any quality blade you need from Swiss army knives to kitchen cutlery. I picked this knife because I'm a fan of this maker, and also because it has everything I want in it. I take this thing out foraging all the time, and the blades are sharp and cut the plants I need well. Even the scissors have some good torque to them.

I can even use the hook for a little extra reach to grab a branch through a bramble or something.

All in all, good price, great brand, awesome knife. Definately worth a buy.

 "Hook the Hook" 2010-03-17

Very nice knife, but the hook blade is only good for conversation (as in "What do you suppose this blade is for?"). Other than that, it's a very useful knife.

"Where True Swiss Army Knives begin." 2010-02-22

By Moodies forever

The climber IMO is where serious SAK's begin. The tool that sets the Climber apart from it less expensive brethren, is the scissors. It is strong enough to trim fingernails, yet delicate and precise enough to cut lightweight paper precisly. When using any of the tools, you can feel the precision built into each functional tool.

I have other Victorinox SAK's, but the usefullness, combined with the small size and light weight, make the Climber the one I reach for 95% of the time.

"It doesn't have a lot of tools, but has most of the essentials" 2010-02-02

By Mark Twain

Legendary quality, it can be abused. Any Victorinox Model II knives are cased with different materials, which are not as pretty as the shinny red model, if it matters to you, you may want to consider the original model.

This knife has the minimum set of usable tools. I think it has the best feature set among Victorinox swiss army knifes in the same size, though some might argue the Tinker is better. With its light weight and low price, you won't remember having it in your pocket; even if you do forget, it doesn't cost that much to replace.

About Swiss Army Knives

In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

 "Extremely Satisfied" 2010-02-20

By Barbara Merlis

All utensils on this unit are very helpful and dependable. I use them all the time for tasks. My only complaint is that it is sometimes difficult to pull the various tools from the knife jacket. It would be easier to use this knife if the tools were lubricated and the spring had less tension. I would also prefer it having a flashlight on it. But overall, it is a very good product

I gave a few of these little pocket knives to co-workers as gifts. Every person came back to me to tell me know much they liked it. It's a cute little handy item to keep on your key chain. I have used the scissors countless times. The scissors and little knife work great!

 "Essential gaget" 2010-03-26

By Edward F. Kurtz

This is a wonderful small pocket knife. It's just a couple of inches long, and includes the following: knife blade, finger-nail file screw driver and a small pair of scissors. It also includes a toothpick and a pair of tweezers. I was introduced to them years ago by a friend, and now I couldn't live without them. The only problem that I've had with them is that I occasionally lose them one way or another. I've lost several when I've accidentally forgotten that they are not allowed on airplanes. Whenever I lose one I replace it immediately, because I really can't live without them. I always buy several when replacing them so I always have a spare.

"A design flaw you may want to consider..." 2010-03-25

By E. Godfrey (Eastish...)

I've been carrying this handy little knife around with me on my key chain for the last year or so and I have one big complaint I would like others to be aware of before they look into purchasing this. Overall, the knife is -perfect- for everyday use, other than this concern...

This is the location of the lanyard loop, or the ring that you can affix to your key ring. This is located at the base of the blade and at the other side as the toothpick/tweezers. By this placement, whenever I use the knife, I have a ball of keys in my hand. Had the loop been placed at the other end, the keys would dangle off the end out of the way. So, I've found this a not-so-handy, pain in the rear to use. The same problem extents to the tweezers and toothpick. They are dangling off the end, just waiting for something to catch on them and let gravity do the rest. Had these been on the other end, next to the ring, this would be completely avoided. I must admit that maybe the knife opens the way it does for safety reasons, but I think I could manage.

So yeah, the knife is great, but the key ring loop is positioned in such a way that it makes using the knife a bit of an annoyance.

By W. Smith (Lincoln, CA)

I have been carrying a pocket knife for over 50 years. I have used several brands and without question the quality of the Victorinox knives are superior. They hold their sharpness far longer than other knives I have used. The only reason I keep buying them is that I loose them, most often at airport screening when I forget to put in my checked luggage.

 "Good price, nice knives" 2010-03-24

By Mark Gerlach (Olympia, WA)

I have an older, Chinese-made imitation Swiss Army knife, and the difference between that one and these two new ones was clear as soon as I first handled them. The tinker is very nice, and the classic is good to put on your keychain. The classic is smaller than I thought it'd be, while the tinker is big. I don't know if this is a temporary deal here on Amazon, but the two of these knives for under $20 with free shipping is a great buy.

 "Great tent" 2009-09-03
By S. Tillberg
This tent is huge! We bought it for our family of 5 and had plenty of room. We didn't use the extra room as a screened in patio but left it open as one big room for the kids and it worked out great. We also had a pack n play in our room and didnt feel like we where squished inside the tent, We had plenty of room.

My husband was able to set this tent up in the dark by himself.

We love it and had not problems with it.

"awesome features but one major design flaw" 2009-08-28
By Michelle Motta (Evansville, IN)
We LOVED the tent until the third time we set it up it ripped in the same place as yours. All other aspects were awesome. The screened porch could double as a provate room (unlike many other tents) because it had windows that could be closed. The zippered doors between the porch and the room in the back provided complete privacy. The doors to the otuside in each of the rooms were convenient so you didn't have to step on or over everyone else to get out of the tent. The screened windows were large so you had great views while laying in the tent. It didn't leak in a moderate rain. It was sad to have to take it back to Sams, because there are no similar tents for the anywhwere near the price.

"Swiss Army 3 room tent" 2009-07-17
By Jayne Capane
While the room is great, the divider was skimpy between the rooms. But the big downfall was when we got rain, some of the seams leaked that resulted in water puddles on the floor. I was dissappointed since it was brand new. I don't feel you should have to seam seal and waterproof a new tent, though while on vacation, I had to purchase and apply the stuff. Hopefully, it won't happen again, but we didn't have any rain after the incident. Also, the rain flys did not have an adequate overhang to deflect the rain from the doorways.

"Great design, very poor construction" 2009-07-06
By afn01182@afn.org (J.H. Dissell, Gainesville, Florida)
Short version of the story:

Bought this tent and whent home to set it up for seam-sealling. 70% set up and RRRIIIPPPP The tab in the back of the tent where three fiberglass poles meet rips and there is a gaping hole in the wall/flooor. Disasseble the tent, back to Sams Club. Get another tent, take it home, RIIIPPPP!!! Same tab, same stage of asssembly. Back to Sams Club. Get a third tent, this time I have a witness READ the directions while we assemble th tent. RRRIIIIIPPPP!!! At place in assembly, tab rips and I am done.

Three Wenger tents ripped in exactly the same place at precisely the same time in assembly. IN ONE DAY!!! Design is good. Construction is the worst I've seen in 40 years of camping. I could NEVER recommend a Wenger tent to anyone, nor will I.

 "Awesome Tent-We Love It!" 2009-07-01
By Loveguitar (Georgia, USA)
This is a HUGE tent. Very spacious inside with what is really one large room and one smaller room. It comes with a cloth room divider which is a bit hard to figure out how to attach in the large room to separate it into two smaller (but still roomy) rooms and when it is attached it doesn't do a good job of creating separate rooms. Much space is left under and around the divider so we don't even use it. But, that's not a negative towards this tent.

SetUp:

1.) Take your time and read the directions on the nylon sack and follow them carefully, step by step. The tent is not hard to set up and can be done by one person but is best if there are two people to set it up.

2.) Make sure the inside sewn-in door is unzipped so that when the tent is flat and ready to be raised a person can enter easily to the center of the tent to lift it while the other person secures the poles on the outside.

3.) Make sure that the rain fly is put on right-side up. If a big wind/rain comes then having it properly secured is essential.

4.) Don't take any short cuts and do everything the directions say to do.

5.) When taking the tent down take your time and fold it up carefully. I lay the tent out flat with the 3 rooms extended. Then I take each room and fold it in towards the center. Then I fold the tent again. You want it narrow enough so that when you roll it up it will fit easily back into the sack. It's easy to do but it takes a few times to get the hang of it. And the poles are very easy to extend and then fold up. I love how everything is so compact and goes back into the sack. The poles and tent sleeves are color-coded so it's very easy to know where each pole goes including their clamps. When we first got this tent we set it up in our back yard several times just for practice. It gets much easier the more often you set it up but if you can practice in advance of a camping trip that's good. And you would want to see if there is anything wrong with it prior to using it for real.

We went on a week-long camping trip last week and this tent was wonderful. The screen windows are great for air circulation and to be able to see outside. It has screens on all sides but you can zip them up at night for privacy. If you leave the rain fly off the roof of the tent is screen netting. We didn't do that but it would be great to lie there and watch the stars at night. I am 5'10" tall and could easily stand up and walk around inside the tent. It is so very spacious on the inside that four or more queen-sized air mattresses could easily be used with room to walk around. This tent really felt like home.

We did not get to test it in a rain storm. It did rain briefly but not long enough to see if the tent would leak. The directions say to use a "seam sealer" which we have not done yet, but will before our next camping trip.

**Note**

If you plan to use this tent in a campground be aware that most pre-made tent pads will not be large enough for this tent. We had to look for a tent pad that was very low to the ground so that the tent floor would be as flat as we could get it. Also, be sure to lay a tarp(s) underneath the tent floor. We had to use three 8'x10' tarps, one for each room.

So far, we love this tent and and the only problems we have had is the velcro closure on the front door sometimes catches the screen netting and has messed it up a bit, and one of the metal ring pins broke but Swiss Gear immediately sent several more for free upon request. The tent fabric is lightweight but seems very durable.

tried out the new tent and hit a few snags.

Probably should have set it up before we went camping,

but no time for that. This is an unconventional tent

and definitly requires 2 persons to set up.

After a little cussing and straining the tent was up

and funktioning great. 2nd time setup was really easy

since now we knew how to do it.

Summary : the family loved the tent and it is really

well made.

"BIG tent - Good value for money - Nice and Dry" 2009-07-12
By L. Gildart (Somerville, MA USA)
We bought this tent for a family trip to a music festival. My husband is 6'4" and an all around big guy. This tent had plenty of room for him, me, our son, two fullsized air mattresses with bags, table, chairs, etc. One of those mattresses was a raised aerobed, so I'd say that this tent would sleep five or six people very very comfortably without having to climb over each other.

It absolutely poured rain while we we there. We sealed the seams before we used the tent, but we didn't do any other waterproofing. The fly worked perfectly, and the tent stayed very dry inside, except for a little bit right inside the front door. The tent is a bit oddly shaped here. You can either have the front part of the floor staked as per the directions, or you can have the zippers close tightly. It wasn't a huge amount of water, even with the zippers open a bit.

We had extra people in our tent during the rain, because they fit, and their kids were boisterous with no damage to the tent, no leaking, and no tent caving in or falling down. Very sturdy and very comfortable!

When the skies cleared the next day, the tent cooled easily with the vents open.

I gave it four stars instead of five because the instructions could have been more clear and because of the thing with the front door not zipping all the way, but my personal satisfaction with the tent couldn't be higher. It's super easy to set up, and relatively easy to take down and store (once you figure out how to fold it - which is not the same way it came out of the package, but first into a square bordered by the main stake holders).

We have not been frequent campers since my son was born. I do not like carrying a bunch of stuff into the woods, and both my husband and my son are city kids who don't appreciate really roughing it. This tent offers a perfect compromise of comfort and ease that will get us out of town a lot more often.
