I picked this up for my 10 year old son as his first tent. We took it on a scout camp out this weekend and got to try it out. This tent was easy enough to put up in the rain, though due to the design, the poles require some effort to put through the sleeves. The fly went on in a heartbeat. I was surprised it has taped seams instead of a bathtub floor, but I put a tarp under it and even though we pitched it on wet muddy ground and had some light rain we stayed very dry. The temperature dropped unexpectedly overnight, and I was nicely surprised by how much warmer it was in the tent than outdoors when I opened up the tent to go. We had a heavy hard frost on the outside of the tent, some condensation inside. This tent also took the wind very well, even though the wind took down two other tents near us. Without the fly the ventilation looks good for a hot summer night, with it I think there is very good rain / wind protection. The fly allows for flexible ventilation, as needed, for in-between weather. Lots of pockets to store stuff inside, and plenty of room in the vestibule for boots, etc. True, it is heavy for backpacking, but we plan to use it as a big kid car camping tent. With two people and minimal gear (winter coats, two small backpacks) we were nice and cozy.

I slept in this tent for several days up in the Appalachian Mountains. It was very comfortable and I had no problems with staying dry either from condensation in the morning or from the one day it rained. It was easy to put together, has nice ventilation options and convenient storage pockets etc. I slept in it by myself and had plenty of room. I think it would be a little crowded with two people, but since there are two doors it would definitely be possible. You wouldn't have to crawl over you camping buddy to get out and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

I've used this tent twice so far. The first was a hot night. It provided great ventilation. The second was a very, very, very wet night and I was the only one to remain dry. I did seal the seams and sprayed it with water repellant beforehand. The only problem I had was a little water seeping through the floor, but it was barely enough to mention. It was pretty roomy-I fit myself and all my gear and I'm a pretty big guy. I feel it was a really good buy and was cheaper buying through Amazon than anywhere else I could find it.

We've had our Eureka Timberline tent for about 6 years now, and it's still in good shape. It's easy to set up, and it generally keeps the water out. On very stormy/rainy trips, the inside has gotten slightly damp at the edges, but we were dry on our sleeping pads and in our sleeping bags (and our friends got soaked). The tent is also fairly light, but we haven't really gone backpacking with it. We do mostly car camping, though we did take it on one hike-in camping trip.

I use this for remote camping in the Rocky Mountains and it holds up really well. It stands up to the wind and does a pretty good job of keeping heat in on the cold nights. This tent is very small and can barely accommodate 2 people - and only if they don't plan on keeping any gear in the tent. Don't even think about setting up a cot in here either.



Overall great tent, but lost a star for the thin floor.

This is my third Timberline tent in about 20 years. Eureka once made these in an Outfitter model that was truly a GREAT tent. It had a heavy duty floor and stress points were re-enforced. You had to seam seal them but they were really tuff. Now they do not make that tent but a cheaper model. It has a flimsy floor bit it is factory seam sealed. Of course the tent desighn is still the same. It is a great desighn that for all but heavy snow conditions in my opinion is the best desighn of any tent. You can leave the fly attached all the time and still set it up. In rain you can open the front and back and unlessit is a blowing gale stay dry and get plenty of air. The footprint is small meaning less groundto clear. This tent now days is okay for the occasional camper, but I sure miss the outfitter model.

The Taurus 4 is a 2-pole freestanding dome tent that is enhanced with 2 doors and 2 vestibules, which is probably why it's been our best selling tent model for the last several years. We use aircraft alloy aluminum poles that are strong and lightweight. Assembly is really easy with the tent clips that just snap in place over the poles. The polyester fly and nylon floor are urethane coated, with factory sealed seams for maximum weatherproofness. My boyfriend and I went camping on a very rainy weekend and stayed nice and dry. Perfect size for two people and their stuff. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because you can't cover the windows of the fly. People can't see in all that well though so it isn't much of an issue. I just thought it was an odd design choice.

I am well in to my second season with this tent and it is awesome! It packs up small and is easy to take along. I bought this for use on motorcycle camping trips and it has been everything I expected and more!

A few weeks ago I had set up in one of my favorite campgrounds. The forecast was for thunderstorms and it was right. We had got wind and rain like I haven't seen in years. I had staked and tied the tent down and it held up beyond belief. We got 5 inches of rain that night and the only wetness in the tent was from me coming in.

This is a great product!

This is a great tent. My wife and daughter and I fit into it with a TON of space to spare, it packs up nicely, and is super easy to set up. When I started looking into tents I had two major criteria: 1) that it be a dome style, 2) that it have two poles only, preferably aluminum. This tent met my requirements and has been a joy to set up and use. Just last night my wife set it up alone in less than 5 minutes.



I purchased some 6 mil polyethylene to use as a footprint under the tent. Alps Mountaineering recommends that you purchase theirs, but I found the stuff cheaper at a hardware store. Using a footprint will definitely extend the life of the floor of your tent.



I would recommend this tent to anyone looking for an affordable 3 or 4 man tent.

I just bought this tent a couple days ago and received it yesterday. I set it up in my backyard to check everything out and ended up sleeping in it. It is large enough for a queen size airmattress if you are using it for car camping. I was surprised at how lightweight it is and the amount of ventilation. I love that the door windows zip shut so you have added privacy and more control over ventilation-makes it more of a 3.5 season tent. Will have to take this hiking sometime to see how it works out-nice thing is the easy 2-pole setup (and it really is easy).

I bought this tent as a Christmas present, and it has been one of those purchases where, as you use it you are constantly surprised by new great things about it.



So far, i've only had the chance to use it once, in the dead of winter, which it really isn't designed for, but the tent held up fantastically and was extremely practical and easy to use, if not very warm.



I'm a pretty tall guy, and this is the first tent that i've had plenty of room to stretch out in, and still have room for all my camping gear. The vestibules are great, but there's no way to cover the plastic windows. SO i'll have to rig up somehting to cover them for changing and stuff, but otherwise they are very handy.



It's a great tent, and not just some ripoff "mountainering" tent.



Its worth it.

When I was an Adult Leader with my son's Boy Scout Troop we had smaller versions of these tents for car camping. Our troop was fortunate enough to have dedicated backpacking and car-camping tents. They were pretty kid-proof. This tent goes up just as easy as the smaller versions and holds up in nasty weather when you need a tent. Our family had several large family style tents over the years and none of them could withstand a desert windstorm. This one could.

It has many tie-down points and is quite sturdy.



I bought this one in July 2009 a summer trip and it was perfect for luxury camping with two adults. I'm a bit over 6 feet and could stand upright in this tent. They say its for six people but we found it a nice fit for two with our car-camping Thermarest pads, carry-on luggage, and two folding chairs for sitting out afternoon rainstorms.



This thing has a big foot-print and we found it hard to find a site with a level area this big. It is only slightly less imposing in a campground than a Class "A" rv...

This tent was great. Very roomy. Not complicated to put up. It poured down rain and not a drop in the tent. Sleeps 4 with plenty of room. Green in color has you blending in with nature. Front and back door. Two hanging storage cubbies inside. No complaints here! Enjoy.

I don't usually give bad reviews, but I don't have much good to say about this tent. We bought this tent for our recent camping trip to Connemara, Ireland. We needed a large tent because we had to be able to fit our 11-week-old's playpen in it. We never got to sleep in it because the high winds (steady at 40 mph with gusts of up to 60 mph) in that area destroyed the tent within 5 hours. We did everything the manual said for high winds, but I guess it just isn't made for that kind of weather. The strange thing is all the other tents (cheap plastic or fiberglass poled tents) survived fine. It was probably due to the high, not-rounded, profile of the tent. One pole snapped in half, and all the others are permanently bent. Also one of the rings broke off. We're sending it back to get fixed, but the next time we go camping, we'll choose a campground that is more sheltered from the winds. I am disappointed though that this heavy duty tent broke when the cheap fiberglass and plastic tents survived.

I am a little obsessed at times, in a good way. I wont buy something for good until I have tried and researched as many alternatives as I can. I tried the Northface trailhead 6, a couple of Kelty Tents, and an REI base camp. All of these were fine tents, however the Eureka is the fastest tent I have ever set up, I can do it by myself in ten minutes without breaking a sweat. It is made out of ripstop nylon, something that is increasingly hard to find these days. I am 6'4 and can stand up perfectly in it.



One thing I would mention is that the floor saver is a little cheap, but other than that I love it.



I think it is a little tight for 6 people, but other than that this is the perfect tent. the Northface Trailhead 6 was a close second but a pain to put up.

I saw my first Eureka Timberline at a boy scout jamboree when I was 12 or 13. At the time it was a unique design--shock corded construction, a floor, rain fly, doors with windows that can remain open during a rain. These things were unheard of at the time, and were unimaginable improvements over the canvas single-wall tents my troop was using.



A few years ago I bought a Timberline 2 with high-low ventilation and a vestibule. It is very comfortable, and the high-low ventilation, when open, creates a constant flow of fresh air into the tent. Although it's fine for one person plus gear or two people with gear stored in the vestibule, it isn't large enough for my wife and I to take our grand kids camping. So after a lot of research and trial and error I purchased the Timberline Outfitter 6, and we absolutely love it.



Ventilation is even better than the 2-person model because low vents are on each door. With the side guy chords properly deployed, the interior opens up offering almost as much head room as domed tents, the only difference being that the highest portion of the tent extends from end to end rather than the center of the structure. Sure it's a wall tent, but the sloped walls don't restrict interior room as much as one might think.



I can put it up by myself (I'm 5'10") but doing so the first time took a bit of creativity because of the tent's large size. But it can be done.
